yup thats right, it has a name now!!! Come On In will be the title of our debut ep.

up til now weve finished all drums and basses for this record. gotta say theyre sounding tight. working with el pillo has been the most fun ive ever had in the studio, u can get really the love he has for this too, muchas ideas rodando k el tiene jejejej.

we're almost at the beginning of December and theres no more releases to look forward to so, its already safe to say in no particular order.....


my number 1 for the whole year, this a great follow-up to 2004's Futures. They co-produced this album with Butch Vig (nirvana producer and garbage drummer)and went back to their Bleed American sound, the vocals in this album masterfully pulled off by Jim Adkins. the titled track is amazing.



very different from Silent Alarm in my opinion, the music goes very way with the title, i can just picture myself at 3am on my way home listening to Waiting For The 7.18 or On or Sunday. pretty pretty good stuff.



getting out of rocknroll for a lil sec here, Calle 13's sophomore album amazed me, many ppl expected them to keep goin with the reggaeton sound, but they went a whole different direction. this album contains latin hip hop at its total best. Residente is a great lyricist. they had a bad ass show in DR this year too.



its been a long time, and i truly mean A LONG TIME! since ive enjoyed an entire merengue album. Juan Luis never dissapoints in this record, he had me worried with his christian album (not cuz its christian, because i felt it was too easy for him). Como Yo is a classic merengue track a cant get enough of and A La Vera is him at his best. also winner of a shit load of latin grammys.



kanye kanye kanye jejejejjeje, contrversial??? always! this album is truly a graduation album, here u can see him take his place in the hip hop kingdom, jay look out! :p Good Morning is amazing.



robi always amazes me, in my opinion its his best work yet. Te Fumare and Roto Por Ti are jewels in this record.



jajajaj the pay what u want for it record! radiohead shocked the industry this year by doing what they did. musically, its no OK Computer, but its a great album. these guys have been in a league of their own for a long time. House Of Cards is a track that takes me places....



i have always admired Thrice for not being afraid to step out of the box, The Alchemy Index is a good example of that. fire didnt bust my bubble that much(although the messenger is the shizzy :p) but water is beautiful, the whaler just gives u that moody feeling of letting go. cant wait for sparing for vols. 3 and 4.



punk in 2007 wasnt so bright, this record is the treasure in the trash can. strung is at its best ion songs like Party in the Hills, All The Nations and War Called Home. Jason Cruz is one of the best frontmen ive seen.



Nick Thomas and the spill canvas deliver in a very good way in their major label debut. a lotta good rock moments in this record, keep a look out for these guys.



i saw the cover and thought dark side of the moon?? jejeej pretty good effort by Dillinger in this record and a good follow up to miss machine. Black Bubblegum is the new metal party song.



miss leslie feist. what a talented woman. what a great album. really enjoy her music, 1234 and Brandy Alexander are such sweet tunes.



circa's sophomore album is a good album to have this year. ive said it b4 and ill say it again, Anthony Green is amazing and thank god he left Saosin.

today i realized that i need to listen to my grandma more, i need to help her out a whole bunch, im so afraid of losing her.

tomorrow fernan and i will pick up the drums to begin tracking drums on saturday, that should go well.

2008... this has to be the year that i will dare......

right now i have to admit, im very happy where the band is right now, i think we're gonna make the best record in the DR scene.

The Chinese Calendar Studio Update #1

well last week we oficially started work on our debut EP. it still dont have a name but we're working on it. we tracked the guit guides for 4 songs, we should start tracking drums next weekend. today we rehearsed to finish up work on our latest song. its another spanish tune, im still struggling with the melodies of the song and all, but today at least we finished the entire song as whole instrument wise. el pillo (our engineer/producer) was there today working with us on the songs, hes got some pretty good ideas so we'll see. until next update!

DR stinx

today i went to el cuarto and saw 2 old skool bands rehearsing, santuario and mulligan, and i thought to myself fuck..... so many good bands in dr but this fuckin place wont let em progress or ''make it''. pero asi es la vida

almost

been a long time, alot has happened

i turned 21, feel older yet the same. my birthday week was good. got to see Zoe and Calle 13, played a show and we went number 1 in la x. not bad huh.

chinese is doing pretty good, been having some probs with they keys and synths, we'll see how thatll turn out. tomorrow we begin recording our debut ep. got no title yet, im thinking to just leave it self titled. we got a new song which rocks, its in spanish, up til now its called 6 Horas (working title) but all good.

finally got a pc, been updating myself with new albums, a lotta good shit so far.

thats all for now, ill be writing more often

The ''I AM SPARTACUS'' Moniker

i first saw this phrase back in the movie That Thing You Do directed by Tom Hanks, where the main carachter would say this in moments where he felt confident, cocky or proud. afterwards i then saw the Spartacus movie, there it had a meaning of freedom and salvage.

i first wanted to use it for a main artery song, where it just be brute, hardcore, destructive type of song, but we never got around to it and we had split. When The Chinese Calendar came along i wanted to reenvent this idea with a straight up rocknroll type of song, where the lyrix speak of enjoying the moment on stage, standing tall musically and not takin crap by nobody.

This is my on satge personality that had no name. this is the other me ive always expressed in shows and whatnot. now this person become one with my real self. thats right kids....... I AM SPARTACUS!

so this is the new year

well this is my first entry in the blogspot world, i use to have a livejournal but it went bye bye. im jochy, im 20 years old, i study education in english, work as an english teacher and most importantly i am the lead singer of The Chinese Calendar, an up and coming DR band. love my family, love my friends.

the reason im writting a personal blog again is beacause between july 29th and the present day, ive had the worse month in my life, physically, mentally, emotionally and professionally. my gf of 3 months broke up with me, i had probs in the workplace, i had a big problem with another band called kahlo and my ex is seeing another guy and decided to rub it in my face. NOT BAD FOR A MONTH HUH!!!!

well im ready to move on, ready to start over, ready to begin a new life. if ppl ever see this i want them to know that this is a roller coaster that is my life. its good to be able to express my self personally again. lets see what life brings me now..... until next post I AM SPARTICUS!
